Dr. Michael Weaver is a board-certified internist currently working as a VA Health Systems Research Fellow in Iowa City, IA. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Kansas City University in 2021 as part of the inaugural class at the Joplin Campus. He completed his Internal Medicine residency in 2024 at Freeman Health Systems in Joplin, MO. He holds additional degrees from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS (Master of Science in Psychology) and Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO (Bachelor of Science in Biology). He has been widely published in the field of meta-research with an emphasis on conflicts of interest and gray data. His current clinical and research interests are immunologic diseases in allergy, immunology, and rheumatology. He spent the past year working as an academic clinician, teaching medical students and residents as a hospitalist at Freeman Health System. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, board games, playing Irish traditional music, and the occasional lock picking.
