Dr. Renée Volny Darko is a Board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist. Dr. Darko graduated from Kansas City University with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Care Leadership from Rockhurst University. She completed her OB/GYN residency at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, then went on to the Morehouse School of Medicine where she completed a fellowship in Health Policy Leadership under the leadership of Dr. David Satcher with a focus in global reproductive health. She later served as Interim Associate Director of the fellowship. While in medical school Dr. Darko served the SNMA as the National Pre-medical Board Member and later became the Chair of the Board of the Directors. She has been bestowed the honor SNMA Chair Emeritus. She also serves as a mentor for the Tour for Diversity in Medicine and does international medical missions in Ghana, West Africa as project manager of the International Healthcare Volunteers, an organization focused on women's health. Finally, Dr. Darko is founder/CEO of Pre-med Strategies, Inc., through which she offers medical school recruiters and diversity officers creative solutions to increase the underrepresented in medicine pre-med engagement using innovative programs, cutting-edge technology, and media solutions. Dr. Darko's enterprise includes bestselling author of How Good Ol’ Dr. V Came to Be, a children’s book loosely based on her own journey to becoming a doctor. She also hosts The Total Pre-med Makeover podcast. Most recently, Dr. Renée launched MEdEq [pronounced MED-eck], which stands for medical education equity. The MEdEq program features a new app through which pre-meds who are underrepresented in medicine engage directly with medical school recruitment and diversity officers for career development and recruitment.
