For more than two decades, Mr. Olovson has assisted organizations and communities transform their operations and practices to attain diversity goals, organizational efficiencies, and markers of inclusive excellence. He is the founder and managing counsel of one of southwest Michigan’s leading law firms and serves as the Executive Director of the non-profit organization, The Justice, Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion Institute. As counsel and consultant, Mr. Olovson regularly advises and provides training to corporations, community service entities and governmental bodies on strategies for navigating cultural transformation, compliance, and community building. His expertise in the law and business administration have garnered Mr. Olovson success representing clients in varying judicial, administrative, governmental, and other legal proceedings. In executive and representative capacities, Mr. Olovson has led multiple institutions of higher education in their efforts to ensure equity, leverage diversity, and operate inclusively. In the course of his career, he has been an invited keynote speaker and workshop presenter at national conferences, served as faculty, and written the curriculum used to this day in the University of Cincinnati’s civil rights practitioner certificate program. Mr. Olovson's professional experience also includes serving as counsel for Legal Services of South Central Michigan, Prison Legal Services of Michigan, the Office of the General Counsel for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and prior to law school, as a counselor for Gratiot County Mental Health Services and Saginaw Bay Human Services. Passionate about equity, inclusion, and diversity, Mr. Olovson is an active volunteer with several state and national organizations dedicated to community development and the promotion of social justice. He is a zealous advocate for inclusive organizational practice, culturally competent education, and justice in our communities.
