Dr. Smith went to Texas Tech University School of Medicine.  He then did his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Texas program in Conroe, Texas.  After completion of his training in 1991 he moved to Indiana.  Most recently he was in private practice with the Indiana University Health system at their office in French Lick, Indiana for several years.  In 2019 he moved to Richmond, Indiana and joined the Reid Health Family Medicine residency program as a core faculty member.  His primary areas of responsibility include precepting in the outpatient clinic, teaching the Geriatrics rotation and supervising the monthly nursing home visits the residents perform.
