Russ Carpenter is a psychiatrist at the Center for Mental Wellness at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO. He is originally from St. Louis where he completed his undergraduate degree at St. Louis University before attending medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He completed psychiatry residency training at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He has served as the Medical Director for the Physician and Health Professional Wellness Program sponsored by MAOPS since 2016. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and serves as the Medical Director of an opioid use disorder treatment center with Behavioral Health Group. Russ was named the Chief Wellness Officer at Capital Region Medical Center in November of 2020. To further partner with physicians and support them in achieving and maintaining optimal wellness, he completed a 9-month training program in 2020-2021 through The Physician Coaching Institute to earn his certification as a Master Physician Development Coach.
