Robert Paul, DO, is a long-standing member of the Orthopedic Surgeons Inc (OSI) group. He performed his residency with OSI, then joined the practice after its completion. He earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
Dr. Paul has been interested in medicine since high school, especially orthopedic surgery. His father practiced dentistry, giving him the opportunity to learn about a career in health care early on from his father, as well as from family friends who were physicians and surgeons. Today, he says he enjoys working in a profession that allows him to help his patients live better, healthier lives with less pain and suffering.
Sports also have been a very important part of Dr. Paul’s life. He participated on the football, basketball and track teams for the Monmouth High School Zippers. He was an avid tennis player during the summer months. He also was a member of the marching, symphonic, and jazz bands, playing tenor and alto saxophone. During college, he played defensive tackle at Northwest Missouri State University for the Bearcats, where he was part of a Hall of Fame team, and was selected team captain many times.
Dr. Paul is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Orthopedic Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is associated with the North Kansas City Hospital Ortho-Spine Co-Management Company, and serves as the medical director of the Total Joint Center of the Northland. He is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Kansas City University, where he is involved in teaching the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Paul is married to his college sweetheart, Beth. They have two children, Jeff and Katie. Jeff works on the IT side of healthcare. Katie is currently an orthopedic surgery resident in the KCU/Research/OSI program.
Away from work, he enjoys spending time with family, fishing, hunting, biking, boating and swimming, as well as visiting the Lake of the Ozarks.
