Dr. Christos Hatzigeorgiou joined the Augusta University faculty as Division Chief of General Internal Medicine after serving in the U.S. Army as a physician leader in clinical, academic, and administrative roles.  Dr. Hatzigeorgiou completed his internal medicine residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and a fellowship in General Internal Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  He completed a Master’s degree in Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) at Uniform Services University of the Health Science Center. With prior experience of implementing a Patient Center Medical Home, Dr. Hatzigeorgiou is centered on value-based care principles, a proven care model that improves the health of patients through team-based healthcare delivery focused on cost-effective methods. Dr. Hatzigeorgiou has been involved with health service and outcomes research, and evidence-based medicine is a focal point of his training and teaching.
