This presentation will review antimicrobial prescribing habits in the ambulatory care setting, and address the need for antimicrobial stewardship in this setting. The core elements of antimicrobial stewardship in the outpatient setting will be analyzed, and potential strategies for incorporating antimicrobial stewardship initiatives into the ambulatory care setting will be addressed. The presentation will highlight the need for antimicrobial stewardship in the ambulatory care setting. Strategies for implementing antimicrobial stewardship initiatives will be geared towards family medicine, urgent care, and emergency medicine practitioners.
